3.9% : The added value of the manufacturing industry of chemical raw materials and chemical products maintained year-on-year growth in May

Industrial production rose 4.4 per cent year-on-year in May, up 0.5 percentage points from April, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said today. On a month-on-month basis, the value added of industrial enterprises above a certain scale increased by 1.53 percent in May over the previous month.


Divided by three categories, the value added of the mining industry grew 1.1% year on year in May, 0.8 percentage points faster than that of April. Manufacturing grew by 5.2%, an acceleration of 0.2 percentage points. Electricity, heat, gas and water production and supply grew by 3.6 percent, accelerating by 3.4 percentage points.


By economic type, the added value of state-holding enterprises increased by 2.1% year-on-year in May. Joint-stock enterprises increased by 4.8%, and foreign-invested enterprises from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan increased by 3.4%. Private enterprises grew by 7.1%.


By sector, in May, the added value of 30 of the 41 major industries maintained year-on-year growth. 4.3% growth fell 0.5% year on year agricultural food processing industry, textile industry, chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing growth 3.9%, non-metallic mineral products increased by 5.5%, 6.1% black metal smelting and rolling processing industry, non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry grows 4.0%, general equipment manufacturing growth 7.3%, special equipment manufacturing growth 16.4%, automobile manufacturing growth 12.2%, railway, shipbuilding, aerospace and other transportation equipment manufacturing industry grows 2.5%, electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry growth of 6.8%, Manufacturing of computers, communications and other electronic equipment rose 10.8 per cent, while power, heat production and supply rose 4.0 per cent.


In may, the added value of the eastern region increased by 4.9%, the central region by 4.2%, the western region by 5.4% and the northeast region by 7.0%.


In terms of products, 344 out of 612 products saw year-on-year growth in May. 114.53 million tons of steel, up 6.2% year on year; 248.69 million tons of cement, up 8.6%; Ten non-ferrous metals 4.98 million tons, up 4.1%; Ethylene was 1.68 million tons, down 2.7%; The number of automobiles was 2,152,000, up 19.0%, among which, the number of new energy automobiles was 85,000, down 22.0%. Electricity generation was 593.2 billion KWH, up 4.3%; Crude oil processing capacity was 57.9 million tons, up 8.2 percent.


In May, the sales rate of industrial enterprises was 97.8 percent, unchanged from the same month last year. Industrial enterprises achieved export delivery value of 966.6 billion yuan, a nominal year-on-year decline of 1.4%.


From January to May, the value added of industrial enterprises above a certain scale fell by 2.8% year on year.
